College Magazine Analysis
College Magazine
This is a one of many college magazines examples from Google Images which includes many features that a magazine should such as; the three colour scheme ( Yellow, White and Black),also a Puff which reads "Splat" which links to the style of the puff. Cover lines are one main feature which most if not all magazines should include. There is also the barcode which can be located in the bottom left hand corner which is possibly encircled by the issue number and the price of the magazine and also the date at the top above the masthead. Finally the Cover Star looks like a hard working student, who is happy and filled will joy to be attending the college, he is dressed like a college person but is missing a few props such as; books, a bag or even required equipment.

Audience and Institution #1
Audience and Institution
The main target audience for both XXL and Respect are
mainly male who are mainly 29 year old African Americans who have an annual income of around $56,571.Source-https.//shanaaeebrooks.wordpress.com/2013/10/27/73
the main reason the magazine is aimed at people 29 years old with a good income is because they will be able to afford a expensive magazine suggesting that XXL and Respect can raise their prices to gain more profit. Harris Publications first published a XXL magazine in 1997 when the company was founded. the company owned over 75 different brands which included things such as, Magazines, Prints, Digital and live event platforms. Other magazines that Harris Publications have created are for a variety of audiences such as; Gardening(mainly for the elderly), Sports for athletic people and Entertainment for practically everyone. Harris Publications which was brought in 2010 by a company called Dynamic Forces sold many additional Magazines to other existing companies who were willing to make an offer, the main ones included; the basketball magazine "Slam" in 1998 and especially "XXL" in 2014.

Hip Hop magazines/ Analysis
Hip Hop Magazines

There are many Magazines which feature the Hip Hop genre and the two most popular was include RESPECT and XXL. These front covers commonly include a black or grey background with red or especially white font, this helps the magazine to standout a lot more, Another technique to help attract customers is the big bold font, which is much more eye-catching than small font. Also usually promotional offers are included on these covers such as XXL has "THE 100 BEST HIP-HOP WEBSITES" which might convince the reader to buy their magazine. Many props are used on front covers to infer the reader/ viewer of the specific genre such as; chains, money, jewellery and also tattoos, lastly handcuffs which infers that majority of these rappers are against the law and don't like it. Normally the artists picture is taken with a mid-view up, this helps to focus on the artists tattoo work which link to the genre but also their face. For example 50 cent can be depicted on the bottom left with a serious look on his face to inform the reader that he doesn't mess around and Hip Hop/ rap is real and lyrics spoken are the truth. A lot of these artists glorify weapons to show how powerful they can actually be, such as 2pac on the left can be seen with a Magnum on his gold chain. Again to show that these artists are wealthy they show it off, especially modern artists such as 50 cent. Many off these artist have nicknames which helps the reader remember the artist due to the fact that they can be very catchy. The light grey background makes the artist the centre of attention. The last technique used is a slogan "THE FUTURE IS NOW" which not only attracts the reader but also gives them a rough estimate/ understanding of what the Magazine will be focused on.Magazine Genre
Hip Hop
I wanted my magazine genre to be Hip Hop due to the fact that it`s one of my favourite music genres and includes many artists that I like. I also chose Hip Hop because there's a lot to talk about such as stereotypes and clothing etc. The urban movement also commonly known as "Hip Hop" was introduced during the 1970`s which developed in South Bronx in New York City. It focused mainly on; breakdancing, house parties and MCing. It became popular outside the African-American community in the late 1980`s and by the 2000`s was one of the top music genres. With Hip Hop also brought B-boying, Graffiti/ Art and DJ-ing. The origins of Hip Hop were the "Ghetto Brothers" who had house parties and music to release racial tension in the area. Soon after Hip Hop came rap ( a rhythmic style of chanting poetry and also beat-boxing, which imitated beats and noises often created by DJ`s on two turntables.

Evaluation
Overall I believe my Practice article was okay but still needs some improvement due to the fact that the article doesn't actually look like an article or professional but the complete opposite. On the other hand factors that went well included the colour scheme which was only a black and white image with red and black writing which sounds quite boring was effective because the red made it standout. To help improve my articles aesthetics I also changed the font form Ariel to a much more pleasing one which was rather fancy, this helped to suggest that the article had quality. Lastly due to the fact that the headline was red is was slightly difficult to see the text properly.
